How to Tie a Gele with Tiny Multiple Layers
1. Create initial pleats: Before you place the Gele fabric on your head, create some pleats. You do that by using each hand to hold each end of the ankara fabric, then making a few pleats, one by one.
2. Continue until you have about 10 pleats. At this point you should still have some parts of the fabric without pleats.
3. Now, place the Gele on your head - starting from one-quarter of the length. You should have one side of the gele longer than the other.
4. Adjust the Gele on your head to make it firm, and smoothen the pleats so that they are close to each other
5. Now take the longer side of the Gele around your head, through the back of your head.
6. When it gets to the front beside your ear, place it over the other pleats you made previously.
7. Next, start creating pleats with this top fabric. As you do this, keep adjusting the fabric to ensure that it`s laying flat, and using your hand to tuck in the white end of the fabric as you go along.
8. When you get to the ear area, you should take the fabric round your head to the other ear
9. Repeat steps 6 to 8, making the pleats, smoothening and adjusting as you go.
10. Continue this process until you get to the end of the fabric.
11. Finish off by tying the two ends of the fabrics to secure the Gele and keep it from loosing.
12. Use some pins to hold down any loose or hanging fabric, and you`ll have the finished look - your INFINITY GELE neatly done. You`ll be wondering how all your 6 yards fabric shrunk into all those layers of pleats.
